I’m setting out today on a three day hike. I’ll cover over 30 miles of wilderness that I’ve never seen before, and I’m excited. This trip is a first for me in a number of ways. This will be the second trip of the summer, the first time that I’ve had a second trip. It will be my first time on these trails. It will also be the first time that I go by myself.
I’m looking forward to it, this time alone with the woods. I know that I’ll see other hikers, but it will be different to be on my own. I don’t get a lot of time alone lately, so the solitude will be welcome. I could ramble on for a while, but really I just want to spend a few days alone with my thoughts, writing in notebooks and staring at the landscape.
Long days of hiking, giving way to cool evenings alone. I might even stay up and stare at the stars. There is always the possibility of calamity, but I suspect that I’ll hike out on Sunday weary, but recharged, ready to get back to my responsibilities. See you soon.
